Fife tips to maintain Kidney health

1. Drink Lots of Water

drinking water
water is very important for our bodies because 60% - 70% of our body consists of water. cells in our body can develop well need water as well as the brain and, more important is the kidney because the kidney is always work to filter toxins and zat2 useless coming into our body, thus requiring more water to neutralize our kidneys.

Online Therapy Via Skype: The Power of Talk

Video Therapy aka Online Therapy consists of a meeting between you and your therapist over the internet using a web-cam. You can see and hear the therapist and vice versa. It is the most like face-to-face counseling. Those who find the invisibility and anonymity of email or chat counseling might not find video therapy as attractive.

Online Internet psychotherapy and counseling through Skype is becoming more popular than ever for busy people. As a professional online psychotherapist, I have noticed a dramatic increase in the number of clients who prefer to have therapy sessions in the comfort of their own space rather than driving to a therapist's office. Many say that they find online sessions using Skype or other video cam formats to be less intimidating than face-to-face sessions and that they feel generally more relaxed and in charge of the process. This is good, because the purpose of any form of therapy is to give you the tools you need to better manage emotional suffering so that you can live a happier life.

It is surprising how effective Skype therapy sessions are. Although client and therapist may be miles apart, it feels like you are in the same room. This format is becoming very popular for people who travel, who are single parents, for those in remote areas or people who are unable to leave home for one reason or another. It is a lifeline for those with agoraphobia, who are trying to learn how to cope with venturing out.

Are you lacking time, but can schedule time before work, at lunch or after hours? Don't want or need face to face? Then a phone session may be good for you. Phone sessions allow convenience in a busy or work schedule. Phone sessions also offer immediate response, but allows for a connection to a voice. Phone sessions are highly effective and have been used for years by crisis hotlines. Many clients who use traditional therapies also do phone check-ins with their therapists.

Pros and Cons of Phone or Online Video Therapy

1. Pros:

Convenience: You can have therapy or a consultation right from your home or office during a time that is convenient for you. There's no commute, no parking problems.

Assessable: You can interact with your therapist when you travel, when you don't drive, don't have a car, don't like to drive or when conditions or responsibilities make difficult to leave the house.

Synchronous: You can communicate with your therapist in "real time" vs. waiting for an answer by email or chat.

Effectiveness: Phone or video therapy has been shown to be as effective as face to face and of course if it's easier to get to you're more likely to attend.

Privacy: Although there is a negative side to privacy, there are no concerns about being seen walking into a therapist's office or bumping into a friend as you leave. You can also interact with your therapist without having to take time off of work or make up excuses as to where you are going.

Security/Confidentiality: SKYPE has been shown to be the most secure and confidential of the video conferencing site. There is no permanent recording of a SKYPE session by the therapist so if you don't record it, it will not be seen by any other person as email or chat might. Cell phones are not fully secure. The best method to ensure privacy is to use SKYPE phone service or a land line.

Cost: Some insurance companies are reimbursing for video-therapy and this trend should be growing. Reimbursement for phone therapy is hit or miss at this time but is usually not reimbursable.

2. Cons:

Absence of Physical Closeness: You cannot experience a warm touch on the shoulder or the care expressed when your therapist hands you a tissue.

With Phone therapy there is a lack of Non-verbal Cues: Misunderstandings can happen during the course of this commutation because gestures, facial expression are absent. Always ask for clarification.

Privacy and Confidentiality: Privacy is both a pro and a con. As many of us are aware, there are ways to gain access to personal computers, to intercept email, and to install key stroke tracking software that records all of your activity on the computer. If you are using a computer that is shared or accessible to another person they may gain access to some or all of the content of your sessions. This applies to times where there is a written record such as with email and/or IM/Chat. Please note:Typically you do not have the right to private correspondence when using a work computer.

Professionalism: There are some on the internet who pose as therapists/advisors yet have little or no training. Always look for a site where the clinician offers professional licensure verification.

Fraud: Make sure that your payment is handled securely and that others cannot access your credit card or bank account.

Technological Challenges: At times an internet connection can go down or a computer malfunctions and communication via the internet is not possible. So, just like times where there is bad weather that impairs travel, a session may have to be rescheduled. For times like this it is good to have an alternate source of contact with your therapist so that you might notify him/her of the technology problem and vice versa.

Symptoms of Pneumonia

The diagnosis of pneumonia often is associated with feelings of uncertainty and fear for a number of reasons. Many cases of upper respiratory infections can transform into lower respiratory infections leading to bronchospasm or bronchitis. If left untreated, bronchitis may turn into pneumonia. The symptoms of pneumonia vary by individual although there are many classic symptoms. Children, adults, and elderly patients are all susceptible to pneumonia and must be monitored for symptoms. It is very important to recognize that there are two types of pneumoniaseparated by significant differences. Viral pneumonia and bacterial pneumonia are treated differently due to the source of infection. Viral pneumonia cannot be treated with antibiotics because the source of the infection is a virus. Bacterial pneumonia is treatable by antibiotics. Understanding the difference in symptoms is critical to help make a prompt diagnosis and begin the best treatment option. In severe cases, patients may need to be hospitalized for treatment and observation. The most common symptoms of viral pneumonia include a previous respiratory infection, low grade fever, productive cough, and general fatigue. Manypatients with viral pneumonia report feeling flu-like symptoms.

Patientswith other medical conditions including asthma, allergies, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and cardiac conditions need to be extremely carefulwith pneumonia symptoms. If youhave ahistory of pre-existing medical conditions and you are experiencing pneumonia symptoms, seek medicalattentionimmediately. The longer it takes to receive aconfirmeddiagnosis of pneumonia results a delayed treatment plan.Pneumonia is an infection of one or both lungs, caused by a bacteria or a virus, or in rarer cases a fungus or parasite, and frailer seniors are especially at risk. The infection causes inflammation and a range of pneumonia symptoms, and can spread to the whole body with serious consequences. As a rule, the more health problems a person has, the more the chance of contracting pneumonia, and the more chance there is of its proving fatal.Pneumonia is the fifth most common cause of death in the elderly, and the most common cause of death of people with dementia. Anyone who is getting on in years or responsible for the care of an older person should be careful to look out for the symptoms of pneumonia whenever illness occurs.Parents of small children, caregivers for the elderly or special needs individual, and anyone with a history of respiratory conditions need to be aware of the symptoms of pneumonia.

Pneumonia is a very serious diagnosis associated with significant consequences if left untreated. Patients with asthma or cardiac problems must be cautious not to confuse their pre-existing respiratory symptoms with symptoms of pneumonia. The symptoms of pneumonia generally include an overall feelingof weakness, muscle aches, fever, chills, and coughing. Asthe condition worsens, some patients report having a hard time breathingand shortness of breath. In most cases, patients report coughing upthick mucus that starts off being yellow in color and progresses to green. Patients with asthma, allergies, and allergy-induced asthma may experiencea more difficult time breathing with an upper or lower respiratory infection as well as pneumonia.

Tips on AntiDepressants for Anxiety

Tips on AntiDepressants for Anxiety:

Anxiety disorders have, over time, been maintained by the use of different antidepressants. As it is the case for most types of medications, side effects have been a major concern as scientists strive to achieve the best results without interfering with other normal bodily functions. Over time, technological advancement has led to discovery of safer and more efficient drugs.

Generally, antidepressants for anxiety work by controlling the function of the brain's neurotransmitters. They do so by controlling the chemical compounds Serotonin and Norepinephrine whose function is to control the passing of neural impulses from one neuron to another.

Under normal circumstances, maintaining a normal flow of impulses is the best thing the human body can ever ask for. However, it must be considered that these signals can be the root cause of increased heart beat rate, shortness of breath, panic and other undesirable conditions which make life unbearable for a person with an anxiety disorder.

Different types of antidepressants for anxiety are currently in market and are different from one another based on how they work, their efficiency and the side effects they carry. The first category of antidepressants is the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs).

They work by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain. Four drugs in this category have been cleared for human consumption and are Fluoxetine, Setraline, Paroxetine and Citalopram. The second and most recent category is the Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors.

These Antidepressants for anxiety work by increasing the levels of both Serotonin and Norepinephrine in the brain. This will result in reduced relay of neural impulses making it quite efficient in controlling anxiety disorders related with mood swings.

They include Duloxetine and VenflaxenMonamine Oxidase inhibitors are another category of antidepressants that work by blocking the activity of Monoamine Oxidase, an enzyme involved in the transmission of neural impulses hence controlling the amount of information the brain processes whose final result is controlling anxiety.

They have been around for a while though their use is greatly advised against as they pose a number of known side effects.

Choosing the right antidepressant is however not about how many brand names one knows but on what medical research says about each and every brand name. To make sure that undesired side effects are totally done away with, always go for the healthiest prescription from the medical practitioner irrespective of how inconvenient it may be.

Another factor to consider is that dosage prescription is very delicate since different quantities will work for different patients. This puts emphasis on the fact that a qualified medical practitioner should be involved in the process of identifying the right type and dosage of a given antidepressant to be taken by the patient.

The Cause and Cost of Brain Injury Care and Treatment

Introduction

A brain injury is an injury occurring in the brain of a living organism. Brain injuries can be classified along primary and secondary brain injury (process of the injury) and focal and diffuse injury (the extent or location of injury in the brain)

The forms of brain injury are:-
• Brain damage- that is the destruction or degeneration of brain cells.
• Traumatic -damage that occurs when an outside force traumatically injures the brain.
• Stroke-a vascular event causing damage in the brain. Usually causing dementia.
• Acquired - when damage to the brain that occurs after birth, regardless of whether it is traumatic or non traumatic, or whether due to an outside or internal cause.

Dementia with Lewy bodies

Lewy bodies are abnormal protein deposits which appear in nerve cells in the brain stem. These bodies disrupt the brain's normal functioning thereby causing brain damage. The common illness that these bodies give a human on entering the brain is Dementia (meaning madness). Dementia with Lewy Bodies is a form of dementia that shares some features of both Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.

The treatment and care of brain damage must be considered devotedly. Treatments vary for the type of injury. The doctor examines the injury and then provides the best care. The brain injury must however be taken care of by few measures like:-

• Appropriate Positioning: Usually the head of the bed should be elevated slightly and the neck should be kept straight. This position may decrease the intracranial pressure by allowing blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to drain from the brain.

• Fluid Restriction: the fluid intake of the patient must be limited, because the brain is like a sponge. It swells with extra fluid. Limiting fluids can help control the swelling.

• Medications: There are several types of medications used to treat such brain damage. Few of them are used to decrease the amount of water in the patient's body while a few to prevent seizures.
If the brain damage has reached to a high level, the medications might not work. So to take care of the brain injury, the doctor might suggest to undergo a surgery.

There are three types of surgery used with brain injury like Dementia with Lewy Bodies:

• Craniotomy - The skull is opened to relieve the causes of increased pressure inside the skull. Causes may be fractured bones, blood clots, or swollen brain tissue

• Burr holes - A small opening is made into the skull to remove blood clots

• Bone flap removal - A piece of bone is removed from the skull to relieve pressure caused by swollen brain tissue

The brain injury care treatment and care cost may vary from the type of injury, the treatment that needs to be done and also the hospital you choose. Few medical policies, cover the treatment of a brain injury.

When you are anxious, your breathing is fast and erratic, when calm and relaxed the breathing is slow calm and rhythmic. This means that by controlling your breathing you can directly control your anxiousness.

A simple exercise to try is the four-seven-eight breath. This is an easy breathing exercise for anxiety that has to be done when seated. Sit down with your back straight and hands resting comfortably on your lap or thighs. Looking ahead and not gazing at anything or even closing your eyes will help boost your concentration hence better the exercise.

After you have assumed the right posture, start breathing in slowly and deeply to the mental count of four seconds. This will allow you to fill lungs. Ensure that you fill your lower lungs first by pushing out your abdomen and proceed filling the lungs upwards.

When your lungs are fully filled up, the next step of this breathing exercise for anxiety is holding your breath to the mental count of seven seconds. After this, slowly and smoothly exhale to the mental count of eight seconds. As you exhale, try to let go of all your anxiety, stress and tension. The above steps make one rep.Do at least twelve reps regularly or whenever you feel anxious. Remember to space the reps for the therapeutic effect of the pauses.

The benefits of this exercise are that it will tone your nervous system, calm the mind, regulate your breathing and balance out your emotions. All these activities will directly impact on the levels of anxiety in you and if properly done can bring everything under control.

Some important tips that will help maximize on the benefits of the breathing exercise for anxiety session are; the exercise can be done from anywhere where you can sit, if you lose your breath stop, breath freely and resume your reps, inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth and that soothing music or earplugs can help you blot out external interferences hence boosting concentration.

In curbing anxiousness, the above exercise only acts as a painkiller or symptom controller. It will be very much in order if you deal with the root cause of the anxiety so as to remain fully productive in the current very competitive world.

What is ADHD Alternative Therapy?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, affects 3-5% of all children, though it is also a condition that also affects adults. You may run across numerous controversies on ADHD, mainly stemming from the fact that ADHD is commonly misdiagnosed, and because treatment plans are not always effective. One of the reasons why treatment is ineffective is because the role of medication is greatly exaggerated. No qualified doctor should ever tell you that ADHD medication would fix a child's problem. Not only is there no cure for ADHD, but too, medication should not be viewed as a means to control the symptoms. Rather, medication-if it is necessary-should be seen as a way to stimulate the child to respond to other forms of therapy. The common doctor-approved prescription upon diagnosis is that the family use medication while also starting ADHD therapy, and implement certain lifestyle and dieting changes.

Though this is the best approach to textbook ADHD, there are many authorities that object to the common ADHD diagnosis and treatment plan. Some say that diagnosing ADHD can actually have a detrimental effect on a child's self esteem and that its classification as a mental disorder may be premature. Many have gone on record as stating that some elevated episodes of impulsive behavior, inattention or even motor activity could still be classified as "normal" childhood traits. You also have to figure in the effect of a heavy sugar diet, as well as the prevalence of short-attention span entertainment in TV, movies and Internet.

No wonder many families have decided to stay away from stimulant or depressive medications in the favor of ADHD alternative therapy. Not only do they dislike the idea of prescribing strong drugs for relatively minor effects-they may also be intimidated by some of the more extreme side effects that have been reported with traditional stimulant medications. These side effects could include anything from psychosis to mood swings or irritability. Since the goal of ADHD treatment is to minimize these antisocial behaviors, obviously those side effects would be counterproductive to recovery.

ADHD Alternative Therapy Could Help Your Child

What about the option of ADHD alternative therapy? ADHD alternative therapy usually refers to holistic treatment, or perhaps another form of therapy besides medicinal or herbal treatment. Holistic therapies, like medication, are designed to stimulate a child's mind into responding to positive therapy and lifestyle change. Herbal supplements may be in the form of a multivitamin as well as an omega-3 or fish oil supplement. Diet changes would require a reduction in sugar, artificial colors, preservatives and other ingredients. There may also be other solutions in ADHD alternative therapy in the form of herbs and botanical extracts. Some of these might include Hyoscyamus, which can help reduce restlessness and over-excitability, Tuberculinum, for those who required constant stimulation as well as for children who are irritable, Arsen iod, which promotes balance and reduces temper tantrums, and Verta alb, which helps soothe the nerves.

When you are looking for herbal treatments, make it a point to find a Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia and to buy these herbs from a reliable manufacturer. Although herbal supplements are not as powerful as stimulant medication, they can still have effects on the mind and body and should be administered carefully. Talking to a doctor before starting a new ADHD alternative therapy may also be a shrewd idea.

Remember that it can never hurt to start a child on an herbal diet and monitor the results before pursuing stimulant medication. The goal in ADHD therapy is to help the child relax and take steps towards progressive lifestyle change. A prescription is never a recipe for overnight success.

What Should Parents Know About Treating ADHD?

ADHD is far from being only a disease diagnosis. ADHD children are often times very creative and very energetic. The major concern as a parent is not to change your child's personality, but to help control his impulsive or hyperactive behavior so that he does not offend others or make dangerous decisions. The truth is, ADHD can cause many problems if it is left untreated, just as any other disorder could. One of the main problems of ADHD is that it can lead to other serious conditions such as Bipolar Disorder or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Children who suffer from ADHD are not merely energetic and exuberant-that is the positive side of ADHD. The negative side involves inattention, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. This can manifest itself in many different antisocial ways, such as clashing with parents or friends. The youngster may fall behind in school or have difficulty maintaining friendships. Since adults gradually do create coping mechanisms for ADHD, they do require that learning process during youth.

Treating ADHD requires minimizing the symptoms of ADHD, which will require a number of treatments. There may be medication or herbal supplements involved, especially if the child has excessive energy and seems to lack control over his impulses. However, treatment will not be focusing on the drugs. The primary focus is teaching the child coping skills so that he can live with the symptoms of ADHD and still live a productive and socially acceptable life. There is no cure for treating ADHD, and prescription drugs are certainly not going to make an improvement on their own. Rather, they will stimulate the mind of a child so that he will be more open to trying behavioral therapy, social skills training, professional coaching and perhaps even support groups.

ADHD Treatment After Diagnosis

When you first receive a diagnosis of ADHD, you will be working closely with your child's doctor and therapist (and perhaps even his school) so that you can find a workable solution. When you start treating ADHD, the first step will be to develop a treatment plan. It must be determined by a credible authority the best way to go about behavioral modification, how to host parental interventions, school, interventions, and what medication or herbal supplements are needed, if any.

Your first step may be in contacting a physician or a therapist; not merely a pediatrician but also a doctor who specializes in ADHD and ADHD treatment. There are many types of office professionals that can choose to work with. Remember that only a child psychiatrist has the authority to prescribe medications or to officially diagnose ADHD. A psychologist can diagnose the condition, but treatment will only involve talk therapy. Cognitive-behavioral therapists may be able to set up behavior modification programs at school or at home. Educational specialists focus on school education and ADHD while behavioral coaches take a more one-on-one approach with children and parents.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has listed two basic principles that every behavioral modification program follows. The first is that therapy should set specific goals so that a child always has a direction in which to channel all of that energy. Next, the authority figure must provide rewards and consequences based on positive and negative behavior.

Medication may help and so may herbal supplements, which are natural and less powerful than certain prescription drugs. However, many families prefer herbal substitutes for treating ADHD because they are not as radically affecting. Remember above all else that drugs are not the coping mechanism-training and education is the only way to ensure a child can live happily with ADHD.

5 Big Reasons ADHD Medications Are Only Part of the Answer

Let's face it, for the parents of children with ADHD, and the adults who are frustrated with similar symptoms affecting every aspect of life, there is no question. Giving a child a pill for the disorder is not enough. Patients, family members, and friends already know at least 5 big reasons ADHD medications are only part of the answer for relieving the symptoms and making life more bearable.

Amazingly, the most common ADHD medications used to treat the disorder are actually stimulants! Considering the major symptoms, it seems totally bizarre to treat a hyper-activity, attention deficit disorder with drugs that will further stimulate the brain. However, the opposite is usually the case. Psycho-stimulators often help balance the chemicals in the brain, resulting in a calming more attentive persona.

However, doctors will be the first to admit that ADHD medications are only a small part of the treatment necessary for children and adults suffering from this all-too-common debilitating affliction. Here are 5 reasons why medication is only part of the treatment:

1. Time limitations
2. Side affects
3. Simultaneous disorders
4. Therapy
5. Coping skills

Of course, the long list has been the subject of volumes. Nevertheless, let us consider just a few of the most prominent reasons why any ADHD medication alone will not work.

Time

Generally, ADHD medication only work for 4 hours, or at most 6 hours. Thus, it means parents, school officials, and health care providers have to medicate children more often. Unfortunately, it is not recommended that kids be responsible for taking the pills as prescribed, so a supervisory adult must always be available when the next dose is due. Thus, the problems of ensuring proper dosing can be a challenge.

Side affects

Unfortunately, most any ADHD medications on the market today are not without side effects. While some patients may only recognize the benefits, other patients have to cope with added problems. Thus, it is questionable whether the benefits outweigh the added health concerns. Some of the potential problems include:

• Weight loss
• Increased activity before next dose
• Tics
• Risk of addiction
• Death

In many cases, many ADHD medications decrease appetite. Thus, individuals will lose weight. While some people may consider this an added benefit, it can actually result in more health problems in the long-term.

In addition, there is the problem of increased activity between doses. It is not time for the next pill, but the ADHD medication is definitely wearing off. Thus, patients are left with a space of time where the symptoms are worse and coping is extremely difficult, until the next dose kicks in, and once again relieves the symptoms.

Then again, some patients also experience addition symptoms due to ADHD medication. Individuals may develop tics of the facial muscles, jerkiness, and other problems that will actually require more medication or coping skills.

As with any medications, there is always the risk that something will go wrong. Parents and patients have a legitimate worry that the medication will result in addiction. Then, if there comes a time to try something different, it will be almost impossible to get off of the stimulants. Also, some patients with ADHD have died, and doctors speculate the medication may have been a contributing factor.

Simultaneous disorders

Even with ADHD medications to deal with the symptoms, many of the patients also suffer from other disorders requiring equal attention. For example, individuals often have learning disabilities, glaring behavioral problems, anxiety disorders, depression and more. Thus, it is incumbent upon caregivers to address all of the health issues with a combination of treatments.

Therapy

Since many patients have underlying mental, physical, emotional, and social health concerns, therapy is a resource that medication alone cannot equal. In truth, ADHD affects the entire family. Not only does the sufferer need therapy, loved ones need to have support and the tools needed to deal with this chemical imbalance and associated disorders.

Coping skills

Therapy for the whole family is vital. ADHD medications are only a small part of the treatment package. Everyone needs better understanding of the disorder and the coping skills to handle life twenty-four hours of every day. ADHD is not easy for anyone, including siblings and loved ones who may provide emotional and relief support.

In short

Make no mistake about it! ADHD is a disorder that cannot be maintained by ADHD medications alone. Oftentimes, patients have other health related issues to contend with, and family members are also suffering and need professional assistance. It is a problem that affects all facets of life, and needs to be treated with every tool available to patients, parents, and professionals.

Is ADHD Medication the Answer?

ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a condition both controversial (as regards the opinion of many experts) and yet one that is very difficult for parents and children to deal with. Symptoms of ADHD may include impulsiveness, which is the tendency to act quickly without thinking things through; hyperactivity, in which a person who is unable to keep still or concentrate easily; and inattention, in which a person daydreams or seems to space out. There are also several other associated behavioral symptoms that might affect a child who has ADHD. Though occasionally the legitimacy of the condition is debated, most doctors agree that it is a neurobehavioral developmental disorder, and one that affects a small percentage of the world's population of children. Many doctors also believe that this disorder is chronic and that it will affect children even as they grow into adults.

What will help this condition is if children are taught coping mechanisms in their youth so that they will know how to handle ADHD as they grow older. Do you notice something telling about this statement? That's right-the main objective here is for the child to learn how to cope with this condition. There is no way of curing ADHD, not even with medication. In fact, the most problematic cases you hear about involving children and ADHD medications, are when parents try to solve the problem by giving children medicine, hoping the problem will disappear. It simply does not work that way.

A competent doctor will prescribe not only medication (and only if it is absolutely necessary) but also will tell the family to incorporate a change in diet, lifestyle and perhaps suggest some behavior modification along with regular counseling. These recommendations are what will eventually help the child learn to live with ADHD. ADHD medication will merely stimulate the child to be able to process this other treatment more effectively.

Is stimulant ADHD medications safe? The American Academy of Pediatrics has stated that most stimulant prescription drugs are safe for children and that children can tolerate such medication for a period of five years. It has not been determined whether these drugs have any long-term effects beyond this time period. The American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics have both stated that children should be tested for heart conditions before proceeding with ADHD medication.

Can Medication Be Beneficial?

The good news is that about 70% of children have benefited from ADHD medication, statistically speaking. Stimulant drugs are cost-effective and are known to tolerate for a short number of years-usually just enough time for the child to become close to legal age. However, this certainly does not imply that ADHD medication is always the answer and is "always" safe. In fact, some stimulant drugs could produce some concerning physical or mental side effects. Ritalin is one of the most negatively-covered drugs in the media and for legal purposes it will list some concerning side effects: psychosis, difficulty in sleeping, mood swings, nervousness, stomach aches, diarrhea, headaches, lack of hunger and weight loss, dry mouth, and irritability. Therefore, if a parent were to notice any of these or similar symptoms in their child, they would certainly want to cease or decrease the medication, depending on the doctor's advice.

Remember that herbal supplements could be considered ADHD medication, but may not involve the risks that certain stimulant drugs carry. Many herbal supplements are considered natural treatments for some personality disorders. Research whatever medication you or your doctor is thinking about and always put your child's long-term well being above convenience!

More Important Tips on an ADHD Diet

Preliminary scientific studies have found that altering a child's diet may help him if he suffers from ADHD, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This is not to say that an ADHD diet will serve as a cure-all. In fact, statistically speaking, you will probably find that scientists can prove no beneficent effects from going on an ADHD diet. However, what's important to realize is that an ADHD diet is not a solution in of itself. Nor are medication or herbal supplements for that matter. The most effective treatment for this condition is a combination of medication or herbal remedies, along with an improved ADHD diet, a behavioral modification therapy program, and significant lifestyle changes. It is important for parents to understand what ADHD really is so that they can better prepare for productive treatment. ADHD is not presently curable. There are even some sources that speculate whether it "exists", at least in the context that so many believe it to exist, as in a disease that must be thwarted with bottles of prescription medication.

ADHD is a condition that must be worked around and patiently treated with love and discipline. An ADHD diet can definitely help in much the same way that medication can-it helps to control the natural impulses of a child so that he can focus on the productive therapy at hand. What makes a good healthy diet? In general, what is healthy to eat is also very good for ADHD children to eat. A diet for ADHD is actually very similar to any healthy diet you would see for a professional athlete, a person trying to losing weight, or a motivational speaker. Obviously, the first restriction is sugar. Junk food should be avoided like the plague, unless you want your child to skip and jump for a great majority of the day. Experts recommend that you cut the sugar intake down by about 90% at least in the first two weeks, and this also applies to chocolate.

The diet should also avoid fruit juices, since these beverages-while they are healthy-do have high sugar content. If you want encourage drinking otherwise healthy beverages, then make sure it is pure juice, and try to dilute your drink with 50% water. Nutrasweet and other artificial sweeteners should also be avoided, as they merely cause craving for real sugar or cause dieters to over drink.

In a diet for ADHD there might also be the need to avoid other typically "healthy" foods. For instance, some experts advise against drinking too much dairy, as nearly 30% of children are actually allergic to milk. Processed meats and MSG are also known to cause problems. A good rule to shop by is that the more strange chemicals that you can't pronounce on the ingredients list the more your child should avoid the meal. Fried foods should also be significantly cut as should artificial food coloring.

What Should My Child Eat?

Now that you know what should be eaten, next consider what foods are good for the ADHD diet. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so make sure to shop for high protein and low carbohydrate meals. Avoid commercial cereals and think about restaurant-type foods-breakfast meats, toast, eggs and other southern home cooking examples. Water is always encouraged as it is thirst quenching and super-healthy.

After the child gets set into a pattern you can start introducing fruits and vegetables, perhaps even healthy sugar provided that you carefully schedule this for ideal exercise. You can also increase the use of flax seed or primrose oil for an excellent source of Omega-oils, an essential fatty acid that improves brain function.

Understanding Aspects of ADHD Therapy

ADHD, also known as Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is present in about 5% of the world's population. The condition is mainly observed in children, though symptoms can continue on into adulthood. It is considered by many prominent authorities to be a chronic condition and one that requires treatment early on, if children are ever to learn coping mechanisms when they reach adulthood.

One common misconception is that ADHD medication should be prescribed in order to cure ADHD. Not only is there no cure for ADHD-medication should never be prescribed to merely control the symptoms of the disorder. Instead, medication, if necessary, should be combined with ADHD therapy, as well as significant lifestyle changes, behavior modifications, dieting changes and family or professional counseling. Medication is not the treatment-rather, it can help stimulate a person to respond to other forms of treatment. Hence, you will be administering several forms of ADHD treatment during this process.

What results has ADHD therapy seen? Results differ widely. One study, reported on in The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews 2008, stated that family therapy on its own had no significant improvement in altering a child's ADHD symptoms. Other studies have suggested that psychosocial ADHD therapy has proven helpful for co morbid disorders. ADHD therapy for parents has actually proven to be quite helpful, as this special treatment ensures that parents understand the condition and how to institute new lifestyle and or dieting changes for the child's benefit.

The Benefit of ADHD Therapy

ADHD therapy may also be known as psychotherapy. This is a form of counseling that is much stronger and more professional than just family ADHD therapy. A professional will have a specific goal or set of goals in mind when dealing with a young patient. He or she will attempt to help the child like to accept himself despite the disorder. Professional ADHD therapy is not supposed to confront the child about symptoms or underlying causes; rather, it is with the intent to explore upsetting thoughts and feelings and address self-defeating patterns of behavior. A therapist wants to teach the child alternative ways to handle the negative emotions, perhaps even help the child finds ways of coping that he can carry with him to adulthood.

What are some examples of exercises that might help with ADHD therapy? It may involve instituting better organization in family tasks or schoolwork. It might also involve teaching a child new ways to approach emotionally charged events. Obviously, a child relies on a strong support system with praise or rewards for acting in a desired way. Not only would the therapist aim to monitor the child's progress; he or she may even encourage the child to self-monitor his decisions.

Of course, social skills are a very important factor in ADHD. Therefore, if a child were lacking in social skills, a therapist would concentrate on helping him to learn new behaviors. The therapist may focus on teaching very basic core beliefs involved in creating and maintaining relationships, such as waiting for one's turn, sharing things, asking for help, responding to teasing and so on. The child is given a chance to practice these social responses. The child might also be taught to read other people's facial expressions and take note of their tone of voice.

This is the major difference between family counseling and ADHD therapy. Since family counseling is presided over by non-skilled family members, communication may center on diagnosis of the problem or the symptoms, rather than on practical, textbook solutions. If parents are deeply concerned about enhancing familial communication or if they cannot afford professional therapy, they may try attending parenting skills training classes so that they can better understand progressive treatment for ADHD.

Is There an ADHD Alternative Therapy?

Yes, there is, - there are many actually, and an alternative ADHD medication should actually be the first choice when considering ADHD medications, as it is effective in reducing and healing the symptoms, and are free from unwanted side effects.

What Are the Signs of ADHD?

It's easy for a parent to get carried away and conclude that their disobedient child has a problem with ADHD. After all, human inclination says that whenever something doesn't go our way, something must be wrong. However, caution should be used when arranging for professional medication treatment to minors. Medicine is not like Castrol motor oil. Stimulant drugs are not cure-alls, nor are they drugs that should be used to control the symptoms of ADHD. While these drugs can help to influence a child's emotions for the better, what is most important is that the child is being taught how to cope with having ADHD. Obviously, medication is not going to take ADHD away. Besides, some medications may have some alarming side effects, so any concerned parent would want to thoroughly research signs of ADHD to make sure that their child is truly suffering from this disorder, and not merely enjoying his youth.

What are the signs of ADHD? First know that most symptoms of true ADHD will usually appear before the age of seven years old. Hyperactivity may or may not be indicative of ADHD. Obviously, inattention and impulsiveness are two likely symptoms parents will see. In addition, legitimate ADHD may also bring about other personality disorders such as bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder or depression. Conduct Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder would certainly be distressing ADHD symptoms. Continual problems with sleeping or learning could also indicate some problems related to ADHD.

That said, ADHD is not necessarily the root cause of certain problems like learning disabilities or a medical condition. This is why it's important to take a child to a doctor when there are strong signs of disorder evident. A doctor would be able to determine if the problem is indeed ADHD or if the signs of ADHD are actually pointing to a much more serious medical or psychological condition. One also cannot dismiss the possibility that ADHD behavior is influenced by external circumstances, such as trauma, the death of a loved one, a major move, bullying, sickness or parental separation or divorce.

When To Take ADHD Seriously

The more you learn about the signs of ADHD, the more you will realize that if the child really has the condition, he is suffering from it. He may make careless mistakes and risk irritating parents or teachers only to fear retaliation. He may be easily distracted and not be able to focus in class. Yes, it is true that a child can concentrate on an activity that he enjoys. However, this is not evidence that a child is merely misbehaving if he cannot take an interest in more repetitive or intellectual subjects. He may not have the ability to do so. If he has ADHD then the child will have to learn coping mechanisms for his short attention span in addition to adopting strategies for effective retention.

Some doctors state that the most obvious signs of ADHD are physical, not necessarily mental. For example, if you notice the child cannot sit still even when counseled, or you see that the child has so much energy he wants to do several things at once, or if you see the child constantly moving his fingers or legs, this shows signs of ADHD particularly in impulse control. Impulsiveness may actually be a more telling sign than other factors, since this directly affects social situations. If you are told (or observe) that your child is constantly invading other people's space, is asking irrelevant questions in school, is constantly making tactless observations about others, or is asking personal questions without merit, then this points to poor impulse control, a definite symptom of ADHD.

Treatment of ADHD cannot be taken lightly-either in overreacting or in under-reacting. Instead, diagnosing and treating the problem should be a matter of careful research and professional advice.

Can You Die From Panic Attacks?

BAM! Suddenly you are hit by a truckload of terrifying symptoms, you heart start pounding madly and you feel the pressure building up in your chest..."Oh my god! I am having a heart attack. I am going to die! Someone help!"

Sounds familiar? Or did something similar happen to you? The fear that your going to die due to certain symptoms your experiencing.

To dispel this misconception once and for all: NO, you cannot die from panic attack!

Panic attack can make you feel like dieing, BUT you need to understand that its simply not the case. A perfectly healthy person with no physical condition cannot simply just die! Its not possible. Yes it can feel abnormal, it feel so real, but you need to understand that its your body's nervous system being at a state of high alert. Its coming from you. You are exaggerating those strange feelings into MAJOR significance.

For example:

During a panic attack, your heart beat irregularly and you chest hurts. But does it mean you have heart attack? Obviously not! For the lack of a better term, most sufferers just think that they are having a heart attack when in fact its not. Heart attack is heart attack. Chest pain is chest pain, do not mix them up together. Without an existing heart condition, you CANNOT get heart attack just like that.

During a panic attack, you feel your muscle tensing up and your shaking or trembling madly. Most suffers thinks that they are having a seizure or stroke, but is it? Obviously not! Again, for the lack of a better term, most sufferers just classified it as seizure when in fact its not. They are exaggerating those strange feelings into MAJOR significance, making something out of nothing! Seizure is seizure. Panic attack is panic attack. Without a history of epilepsy, you CANNOT suffer from seizure.

As you can see, the list goes on and on, and I can assure you here that there is a perfectly logical explanation for EVERY single symptoms your experiencing. This fact still remains, panic attack can NEVER kill you.

-You cannot have a heart attack

-You cannot stop breathing

-You cannot faint

-You cannot go mad

-Above all, you cannot simply just die...its not possible.

So...can you die from panic attacks?

NO! Accept that you are a panic attack sufferer and do everything you can to overcome it. Don't run or hide from it...and certainly don't fear it.

How to Cure Panic Attack - You Have the Cure All Along!

Panic attack is a real illness that can be cured. It is characterized by sudden attacks of terror, usually accompanied by pounding heart, sweatiness, weakness, faintness, or dizziness. Sufferers often feel a sense of impending doom and irrational fear of losing control.

Panic attack sufferers sometime believe that they are having heart attacks, losing their minds, or on the verge of death. They can't predict when or where an attack will occur, and in between episodes, worry needlessly about when it will occur next.

People who have full-blown, repeated panic attacks can become very disabled by their condition. For example, if a panic attack happened in an elevator, someone with panic disorder may develop a fear of elevators that could affect the choice of a job or an apartment, and restrict where that person can seek medical attention or enjoy entertainment.

Some people's lives become so restricted that they avoid normal activities, such as grocery shopping or driving. About one-third become housebound or are able to confront a feared situation only when accompanied by a spouse or other trusted person.

This is unfortunate, because panic attack is one of the most treatable of all the anxiety disorders. In fact, the cure to panic attack is with you all along.

Yes, the secret to stop panic attack is...stopping your fear! The cure is yourself. Only you can stop your own fear!

Remember this fact, panic attack can do you no real harm. This is a fact which most people don't realize. They think are they stuck with some deadly symptoms, which results in their irrational fear of having panic attack.

Their heart is racing and they think they are having a heart attack, but a racing thumping heart rate is not a sure sign of a heart attack or cardiac arrest. Just as chest pain during panic does not mean you are having a heart attack.

Shortness of breath is not a sure sign of suffocation. Dizziness is not a sure sign of an imminent faint.

Despite all these "deadly symptoms", what happens when panic attack subside eventually? Your will ALWAYS be fine. NOTHING will happen. No heart attack, no suffocation, no fainting, no dieing. This is the prove!

Despite everything your body symptoms are telling you, they will ALWAYS subside in time and on their own accord.

Real And Permanent Cure For Social Phobia

I'm sure you've heard the news already: it's all over the blogosphere since BCC first broke the news. Yeah, this is about that nasal spray you sniff - and your social phobia is gone!

If you haven't heard about this "latest and greatest" social anxiety cure yet, let me regurgitate the news in brief. It all started when scientists from Zurich University found that people who inhaled the hormone called oxytocin continued to trust strangers even after they were cheated on. That discovery, they say, could lead to future treatments for social phobia. It didn't take long for a long-sales-letter type websites to appear selling the new wonder drug:

oxytocin.

It has been called "the love hormone", "the cuddle chemical", "the mind reading hormone" and "the trust drug".

And for a reason.

It's the chemical that makes you feel what you're feeling during an orgasm. It is also produced during labor and it's responsible for the unique and unbreakable mother-child bond. When your brain is releasing oxytocin, you feel loved, relaxed and more open to trust - not only friends and lovers, but also strangers.

The Zurich University's study has found that oxytocin has a very specific effect in social situations: it seems to diminish fears. Lead researcher Dr Thomas Baumgartner thinks that a lack of oxytocin is at least one of the causes for the fear experienced by social phobics.

Brain scans show that oxytocin can lower activity in the amygdala - a region of brain that is responsible for feelings of fear and apprehension - and which is overactive in social phobics. So, yes - it's true: a sniff of oxytocin could improve readiness to engage in social interactions for people who suffer from social anxiety disorder by simply making them less fearful.

Then again, there are other things you can sniff to increase your confidence in social situations... Lots and lots of people who don't have social phobia consume alcohol for the same reason.

The problem is, such substances are indiscriminate in their effects: uncritical trust can be just as damaging as irrational avoidance.

Will this new drug heal us or kill us...?

How to Avoid Anxiety Attacks, Or Not!

I am sure you have heard many times that anxiety attacks can come anytime, anywhere. Suddenly, your hit by a barrage of strange symptoms. Your heart starts pounding, you can't breathe properly, you start to feel faint and weak, and more importantly, you REALLY feel like your going to die right there.

This is what an anxiety attack feels like.

But during that short time, the terror can be so severe that it can cause a change in a person's psyche and this is where the main problem starts. After an anxiety attack is over, you may start worrying about having another one, particularly in public places where help isn't available and hence the term "unsafe place".

You start AVOIDING places and situation which trigger your last attack. You AVOID driving, AVOID taking buses or trains, AVOID going out alone, etc. Eventually, you AVOID going out altogether as the frequencies and intensity of th attack increases.

Still want to AVOID anxiety attacks?

Often, avoidance can lead to more harm than good, and especially more so for anxiety attacks. When you avoid situation which trigger your anxiety attacks, your giving in to your fear and anxiety. Fear and anxiety is what fuels an anxiety attack, making it occur again and again...and again!

The first thing you must do now is to chuck the word "avoid" out of the window. You don't have to avoid anxiety attacks. Why? Because its perfectly treatable. You CAN make it stop. You don't have to be stuck with it forever.

Rather than learning how to avoid anxiety attacks, seek to confront it. Accept the fact that you have anxiety attack and make the decision to stop it. This action must come at some point in time. Anxiety attacks isn't going to stop by itself. You cannot hope to avoid it and pray than it never finds you.

Know that anxiety attack cannot harm you. Its been medically proven. Despite the uncomfortable sensations you feel during an anxiety attack, KNOW that nothing will happen to you.

You heart is pounding madly, you think that your having a heart attack, BUT YOUR NOT! It feels unnatural because this type of heart activity is usually reserved for vigorous activity (when your exercising), and you don't notice it as much.

You can't breathe, you think that your suffocating or hyperventilating, BUT YOUR NOT! In fact, the risk of suffocating during an anxiety attack is much lower than usual because your taking in more air. The effects of having too much oxygen in your bloodstream causes you to feel numb, faint and weak...and there you have it, your not suffocating - your breathing too much!

Arm yourself with the above knowledge and know that anxiety attack cannot harm you. Don't avoid anxiety attacks, confront it!

Aspergers Autism - What is Asperger's Autism?

Asperger's Autism is a type of Autism that affects the neuro development of the individual. It is named after a children's doctor by the name of Hans Asperger. He completed many studies in 1944 relating to abnormalities found in some children. His published material helped build the foundation for the concepts of Autism. Many of the concepts he implemented in 1944 are still being used to uncover the mysteries of Austim today.

The technical term for this disorder is Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PPD). It is similar to Classic Autism when you compare it to all other types under the spectrum of Autism. There are five different PPD's that are classified differently than other types of Autism. The sooner a child with Austim starts interventions and therapies, they less likely they will suffer from Autism as they get older.

In 1932 Apserger was assigned to the position of director of the Vienna University Children's Clinic. He observed four children with very similar traits. They were all unable to interact on a social level with their peers even though they had the same levels of intelligence as any average child. They weren't able to show empathy or other emotions to others. They lacked non verbal communication skills and they were very accident prone.

The group of children did speak, but it was in a different context than other children. He also observed that whatever they were talking about at any given moment became the most important topic to them. He coined their behaviors as Autistic Pyschopathy due to the characteristics of social isolation and poor communication skills. He would eventually observe more than 400 children with similar traits to base his writings upon.

Some people continue to debate the classification of Asperger's Autism. There are clinicians who called it High Functioning Autism (HFA). These individuals feel it is only a mild form of Classic Autism. Many individuals who show signs of Asperger's Autism have learning problems but they also seem to excel in their mental abilities as they get older. Helping children with Asperger's Autism will help them be able to use their skills to the fullest.

Asperger wrote many articles about the concept of teaching individuals with Asperger's Autism in a specific type of learning environment so that their development would be benefited. He believed that since they are often obsessed with a particular topic, this gives them the chance to achieve in those areas that capture their attention. The two most common areas that they excel in are art and science. Many individuals are surprised to find that Albert Einstein was diagnosed with Asperger's Autism.

Bipolar Chat - Talk Online with Others About Bipolar Disorder

Suffering from bipolar disorder can definitely turn your life completely upside down. It can be scary and frustrating as well. Sometimes you may feel as if you are the only one feeling like that. Take a visit to a bipolar chat room and you will quickly learn there are millions of people just like you. This is also a great way to get answers to questions you have from those who have experienced it.

Many people find it comforting to discover their situation isn't an isolated incident. You can also serve a method of support for others. You likely have the answers to some of their questions. Bipolar chat rooms can be a tremendous wealth of information and support for those who suffer from bipolar as well as their family and friends who want to find out more about the disorder.

People from all over the world visit bipolar chat rooms so you will get to meet a diverse population. Since it is all online they are available 24/7 so you can log on when you feel like it. Many people find it much easier to speak freely about their bipolar disorder online than with a face to face support group. While you are free to speak your mind remember that bipolar chat rooms like most others are moderated to prevent things from escalating online.

You want to protect your personal identity as well. It is recommended that you use a screen name instead of your real one for privacy. Always be cautious about sharing too much personal information about yourself with other people online. While most people you will meet are very decent you hear stories all the time about people becoming victims online. Don't let this happen to you!

For your safety most online bipolar chat rooms require you to verify you are at least 18 years of age or older. There are a few set up for younger children and teens but they aren't the majority.

Almost all of the bipolar chat rooms will have rules you need to read and agree to before you are able to login. For example all caps generally are not allowed because it indicates an angry tone and shouting. It is also very hard for the eyes to read accurately. Bipolar chat rooms aren't a place to pick a fight.

Generally the bipolar chat rooms have different categories and you will post your replies in the appropriate one. There may be a general area where you can freely explore different aspects. It is a good idea to avoid issues that generally result in debate including politics.

One bit of information you definitely don't want to take from a bipolar chat room though is anything pertaining to medications. That is a discussion you need to have with your doctor instead.

Bipolar Disorder Behavior - Symptoms that Signal Bipolar Disorder Behavior

While there are common symptoms that may indicate a person has bipolar disorder, each person is different. Therefore the particular symptoms they will exhibit and to the degree they have them depends on the person. This means there is no cookie cutter approach that is going to work for taking care of the disorder.

Bipolar disorder behavior can come on suddenly in both men and women. It is also known to affect young children and teenagers. The average age for bipolar disorder is approximately 25. There is plenty of research to indicate bipolar disorder behavior may be hereditary in nature.

Anyone who is affiliated with bipolar disorder often feels like they are living on a roller coaster that just keeps going up and down without any chance to get off the ride. The emotions that vary from one extreme to another are very hard for a person with bipolar to deal with on a daily basis.

These behaviors are certainly anything but normal and they can affect a person's personal relationships and career. It is very important to understand the behaviors a person with bipolar disorder exhibits aren't restricted to affecting only them. Their family suffers an emotional strain and in many cases financial stressors as well.

The two extremes of bipolar disorder behavior are mania and depression. Their behavior may fall anywhere between the two spectrums. When an individual is in a manic phase they are very unpredictable and act irresponsibly. This can cause them to be in a dangerous situation as well as put others around them at risk. Common behaviors during maniac episode include drinking excessively, taking drugs, and risky sexual behaviors.

As the person shifts into a depression mode they often start to experience psychotic episodes. They may become very paranoid because they hear voices, experience hallucinations, and they may believe they have a special power. They may feel very sad one moment and ecstatic the next.

Anyone who is trying to live a normal life and go to work each day has a hard time doing so with such extreme mood swings. Many people who suffer from bipolar disorder behavior don't realize it and they have never been diagnosed. Yet they can't seem to maintain personal relationships or hold a job.

There is no cure for bipolar disorder but with the right combination of medication and therapy it can be controlled. Many people with bipolar disorder are able to function at a normal level under the supervision of a doctor.

Autism Genome Project - Recent Developments

In 2004 the Autism Genome Project (AGP) was piloted as the largest study to cover the genetic aspects of Autism. The goal was to determine the genes that play a role in children inheriting the ones that lead to Autism. The technology of DNA and 120 genetic researchers combined their knowledge and skills to complete the study. The researchers came from 50 different research institutes and 19 different countries. Each one of them brought different DNA samples to the project so that the theory of genetics playing a role in Autism could be confirmed or denied.

It was believed that once this could be determined, doctors could help identify the risk factor a couple had of their child being born with Autism. This could definitely help lead researchers to preventing Autism as well as eventually finding a cure for it.

The initial phase of the project involved scanning the collected samples of DNA. These belong to 1,200 families who have a child with Autism. The next phase was to analyze the results from the scanned DNA. This would allow the genes dominate in individuals with Autism to be identified. To arrive at this information the genome of 23 pairs of chromosomes were carefully reviewed.

The results of the AGP show conclusive evidence that support the theory of genetics playing a significant role in the risk of Autism. This has lead the research to begin focusing on discovering if a specific genetic make up is present for Autism to occur or if the genetic factors mixed with environmental factors result in Autism.

The AGP definitely laid a solid foundation for other research to build upon. There is plenty more investigating that has to be done regarding the environmental factors and genetics. But there is hope this research will one day lead to a biological diagnosis and better treatment options for those diagnosed with Autism. The AGP is definitely a step in the right direction for offering hope that one day a cure for Autism will be found.

Autism

In this article, I will discuss what autism is and what some of the common misconceptions are concerning autism. Autism is a neurological disability that affects an individual's ability to communicate and socialize with others. They might also be experiencing issues with motor skills and processing information as well. Autism affects each child and adult differently. There is no such thing as typical Autism behaviors.

The exact cause of Autism is not known. It is believed to be the result of abnormalities in the brain structure. Brain scans of individuals who have been diagnosed with Autism show such differences. It is also believed that heredity and genetics play a role in the development of Autism.

Autism often occurs in those who have other medical issues including Fragile X Syndrome, Sclerosis, Rubella, and toxic diseases that are related to issues during the pregnancy. There is a debate that standard vaccinations can result in Autism as well.

Regardless of the reasons behind Autism, there are some myths out there that result from uneducated individuals. This includes the idea that Autism is the result of poor parenting during the early years of a child's development. There is also the myth that Autism is a mental illness. There is no evidence to support that idea.

Taking the time to learn the basics of Autism will be beneficial. There are many terms to be aware of. Knowing the basics can help you decide what step to take next. You can also find great resources to provide information and help for your Autistic child. Early identification and diagnosis are key. If you feel your child might have Autism it is a good idea to get an evaluation conducted by a qualified doctor with knowledge of Autism.

The education process of Autism can be challenging for those with the disability as well as parents and caregivers. This is because there are so many variable to take into consideration. Support groups are an excellent source of information and emotional release. Working with qualified individuals to set up an Individual Education Plan is a great idea.

There is still much we don't know about Autism. However, it is possible to live with an Autistic child and still have a fairly normal home life. This means taking the time to understand the disability, seek out resources, and find support for yourself and other members of your family.

Most children who develop Autism will show symptoms of the disability by the time they are three years old. If your child is not meeting milestones in a timely fashion, they may have Autism. The sooner a diagnosis is made the more options you will have for helping your child.

Anxiety Panic Attack Symptoms - Stop Living in Fear!

It comes in many forms, and in many situations. You wake up suddenly, your heart is pounding, you're sweating bullets and, you can hardly breathe. Or maybe you are just about to go into a job interview, or make a speech. You heart starts racing, you're sweating, your whole body is shaking and you get dizzy. You think maybe you're going crazy or that you're going to die. Fear begets fear and panic begets panic and within moments you are convinced that you really are dying.

Welcome to your first panic attack. You've just experienced some of the most common anxiety panic attack symptoms.

The good news is - you're not going to die, you're not going crazy, and you're definitely not alone. Studies show that 75% of people worldwide have, or will, experience anxiety panic attack symptoms at least once in their lifetime.

Your first panic attack is an extremely traumatic experience. This often leads people to develop an uncontrollable fear of recurrent attacks, thus exacerbating the problem. The fear of the attack itself can actually trigger another attack.

This fear feeds on itself, growing and growing until the victim's life is affected. They may start to withdraw from the world, shutting themselves in, in an effort to protect themselves from the life events that can sometimes trigger the anxiety panic attack symptom.

Anxiety Explained

All animals, humans included, have natural self-preservation instincts. This instinct is normal and necessary to survival. It is what triggers the body to release certain chemicals and hormones into the bloodstream that allow us to react to the threat at hand. Think back to the last time you had a scare. Maybe it was a close call with an automobile accident, or maybe you narrowly avoided being hit by a bus. That instant physical reaction that allowed you to react so quickly and instinctively was what we often refer to as the "fight or flight" reaction.

Anxiety and panic attacks happen when that system misfires, causing our bodies to engage the "fight or flight" reaction even when there is no danger. Our panic stems in part from a lack of understanding of the source of the fear, and how we're supposed to react to it. Because we don't know whether to fight or flee, we feel vulnerable to our fear, completely oblivious to the fact that there is no real threat.

Unfortunately, after the horror of the first attack, many panic attack sufferers end up with subsequent attacks being one of their greatest fears. This fear can quickly consume the victim. Ironically, this often leads to another attack.

The fear of having another attack makes us all the more vulnerable to future attacks because we dwell on the fear and blow it out of proportion, causing a trigger-happy alarm. Conversely, by refusing to dwell on the fear of once again falling victim to anxiety panic attack symptoms, the chances of us falling prey to another panic attack are considerably reduced.

The best tip for panic attack avoidance is to not be afraid of having one. You don't need medication and other so-called anxiety attack panic treatments. Anyone can avoid panic attacks by being prepared to take them on.

Another tip for panic attacks - be proactive. Don't bother looking for an anxiety attack panic treatment that will reduce the frequency of your attacks. Look for effective methods of facing them head on. By dealing with your anxiety panic attack symptoms, you are putting yourself in control of anxiety, instead of letting the anxiety control you.

The producer of this system has several hundreds of complimentary testimonials showing that this system really does work, its not just pie in the sky.

These attacks can happen anywhere, in the car, in the supermarket, on a plane, just anywhere. The fact that you expect them also is a bad thing because that makes it more likely that it WILL happen.

Some people have suffered for absolutely years and they deserve to be saved from this crippling situation. Young or old, it doesn't seem to work in a way that you can predict.

This system has been available 'on line' for seven years and become the premier drug free treatment for your problem, including general anxiety disorder.

Some people have been seeing psychologists etc. for about 25 years and still are suffering, that can't be right, can it?

This product advocates a 'one move technique' and what that is you will have to find out for yourself. A testimonial stated that after spending $8000 and 5 years trying just about everything available, applying the 'one move technique' just once, worked for him.

This could be working for you as well, don't waste any more time or money, get this product and be well on your way to full health and a happy life. You deserve it.

Overcoming Panic Attacks

Panic attacks are quite a common and sometimes debilitating disorder. There are a number of treatments for it, ranging from prescribed medication to natural home remedies. This article is aimed at providing some quick tips for overcoming panic attacks that you can put to use right away.

Panic and anxiety attacks are caused by the brain's overreaction to stressful situations or thoughts. Some of the symptoms include:

- Feeling faint
- Sweating
- Shaking
- Racing heart
- Shortness of breath
- Hot flashes

These symptoms also relate to many other ailments unrelated to panic and anxiety disorders, therefore it is important to see a doctor if you think you're suffering from a panic and anxiety disorder. There are three main types of panic attacks, which are defined as:

1. Spontaneous panic attacks. This type can strike anytime or anywhere, from sleeping, to working, to preparing a meal. The irregularity of them adds a lot of stress to an already difficult disorder.

2. Specific panic attacks. These happen when someone is faced with a familiar situation that provokes anxiety or that relates to a previous anxiety attack.

3. Situational predisposed panic attacks. These occur only in specific places or situations. For example, only when grocery shopping.

A prolonged case of panic attacks can become a vicious cycle of anxiety where the person becomes afraid of the next panic attack. This can result in serious depression if not checked by your doctor. When considering medication for overcoming panic attacks, be sure to weigh the benefits against the possible side effects.

Predicting when the next panic attack will happen can be challenging, but reducing panic as soon as it starts will most likely stop a panic attack altogether. This is because stopping or slowing your physical reaction to the emotion will prevent a build up of adrenalin which will then decrease your anxiety. Here are some tips for overcoming panic attacks and how you can help yourself right away:

1. Try to be lighthearted with yourself and the world around you. You will have fewer stressful situations which could lead to panic.

2. Distract your mind with a funny word or image - as absurd as you can think of. This will help minimize the panic.

3. Remove yourself from the place of panic by going for a walk. A change of scenery will help you refocus and distract you from anxiousness.

4. Focus fully on breathing deeply and slowly for a few minutes until the anxiety subsides.

5. Keep a journal what you were thinking during an attack. Being able to analyze exactly what happens during your attacks, will enable you to anticipate them so you have a much better chance of overcoming panic attacks in the future.

6. Keep fit and eat healthy. Too many stimulants such as coffee and alcohol will negatively affect your emotional state.

Overcoming panic attacks once and for all is a very real possibility. Here are two natural methods that have worked for many people.
